Françoise's Notes: Beautiful woodsy aromatics of wild blueberries, dried sage, black licorice earthy forest quality. This wine is serious, poised and disciplined. The texture is pristine, refined entry, flavors explode mid palate with a powerful, persistent finish. The wine has an ample lift and firm vein of minerality. This is the wine you put away. Hand harvested, sorted in the winery, fermented individually in puncheons, pressed to barrel, aged in used French oak for 23 months. 50 cases made. Bottled Sept 2019.

"The 2017 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard is superb. Once again, the Tofanelli Charbono is marked by its captivating bouquet. Raspberry jam, mint, white pepper, licorice, spice and gravel are all beautifully lifted. Deep, powerful and so expressive, the 2017 is flat-out superb. Time in the glass is absolutely essential to allow the breadth of the wine’s energy to reveal itself. All I can say is: What a wine!" -Antonio Galloni, 94
"There are a whopping 50 cases of the 2017 Charbono Tofanelli Vineyard, which comes from a site in Napa Valley and spent 23 months in neutral oak. Its ruby/purple color is followed by a smoky, meaty wine with lots of black and blue fruits as well as foresty, earthy, violet, and floral notes, medium to full-bodied richness, terrific purity of fruit, good acidity, and enough tannins and structure to warrant short-term cellaring. It's a beautiful wine that will drink well for 10-15 years." -Jeb Dunnuck, 92
