Françoise's Notes: Racy bright red fruits- cranberries and pomegranate.  Beautiful floral intrigue, lavender, white flowers, potpourri. The mouthfeel is like a landing strip, smooth and even. A quiet reserved wine, you might say a “shy” wine right now.  Super fine texture, integrated, silky tannins. Hand harvested, sorted in the winery, fermented individually in puncheons, pressed to barrel, aged in used French oak for 23 months. 50 cases made. Bottled Sept 2019.

13.8% ABV

"More gravelly earth, tobacco, violets, and smoky fireplace, Graves-like notes emerge from the 2017 Charbono Skypoke Vineyard, which is medium to full-bodied, structured, and nicely concentrated on the palate. Another beautiful wine from this estate, it has terrific fruit, a fresh, lively spine of acidity, and the balance and structure to benefit from 2-4 years of bottle age and keep for 15 years or more." - Jeb Dunnuck, 94+

"The 2017 Charbono Shypoke Vineyard is a dense, plush wine. Black cherry, bittersweet chocolate, menthol, cloves, and new leather are all amped. Graphite, game, smoke, licorice and tobacco develop in the glass, all wrapped inside a swath of Calistoga tannins. Today, the 2017 is a bit compact, so I would cellar it for at least a year or two." -Antoni Galloni, 92
